Two German double-page copper plate engravings of equestrian scenes, from Methode et Invention Nouvelle de Dresser les Chevaux, whose three editions were published in 1658, 1737, and 1743. The illustrations depict equestrian training techniques developed by William Cavendish (1592-1676), the expatriated Duke of Newcastle who opened a riding school in Antwerp. Engravers Johann Ziegers and Georg Lehmanns, Nuremburg. Each engraving is well presented in a burled frame with gilt edges.

The images measure 10 1/2" x 14" and 10 1/2" x 13 1/4", respectively, and each frame measures 22" x 24 1/4".

Provenance: The Webster House collection.
