A late 19th c. English oak portable stationery box, with slant-front doors opening to reveal divided compartments for storage of letters and stationery. Pewter shield motif inlaid into the left door. The box is complete with a removable calendar (controlled by top knobs), as well as the original key.
Measures 12" x 14" x 10 1/2". Said to have belonged to a British field marshal.
Condition
Good to very good condition. The calendar mechanism is fully operational. There is loss to the ribbon on the interior of the left door.
