Springfield model 1842, dated 1847 on the lockplate (matching 1847 on the tang), with a heavily-worn "eagle over US" mark. Full-length walnut stock with "SRC" stamped to the underside near the butt. Barrel marked with "VP over eagle". Original ramrod. Included is a canvas bag. Musket measures 57 3/4" from end to end.
Pitting across the steel elements. There is a piece of black tape at along the side of the butt. Mechanics are working.
