American, second quarter 19th century. The lock is stamped "Sheldon Phelps & Co.," a hardware firm out of New York City, which flourished from 1834-1850. Octagonal single barrel that measures 39 1/2" long. Full-length walnut stock with forged brass hardware. The top of the barrel is engraved "Jacob Truby," a name shared by a father and son in Pennsylvania during that era. Measures 54 3/4" from end to end.

Condition

Some loss to the forestock wood near the end of the barrel.
