Richard Bergen (Kansas, 1925-2020)
Ad Astra, 2004
Cast resin, wood, wire
22" height
Edition of 100
The depiction of a Kansa warrior shooting an arrow into the sky, after the iconic 22-foot bronze atop the Kansas State Capitol building, by the late Dr. Richard Bergen. The arrow is loose from the rest of the sculpture, and the bow is mildly pliable. Painted finish imitating verdigris. Numbered on the title plate affixed to the wooden plinth (#30/100), and dated in the casting.
Provenance: From the collection of a former Kansas state senator.
Condition
Very good condition, noting a little adhesive residue at the tail of the arrow (a very minor issue likely from an attempt to more permanently affix the loose element).
