A Pennsylvania tall case clock from the first half of the 19th century, by Samuel Hofford of Berlin, PA, in Somerset County. Cherry case, hand-painted and decorated dial, two iron weights, and a brass pendulum. Written on an 1891-dated tag affixed to the back is "Daniel K. Peck / Chapman, Kas.", referring to Daniel Kennet Peck, who descended from the Peck family of Somerset County.

Measures 95" x 23" x 12".

Condition

The chiming mechanism is fully functional, but the clock's full operations are untested. There is some flaking on the hand-painted clock face, which has been touched up (in-painting and/or over-painting). The clock's case has been similarly touched up in small areas of wear.
