The oil is signed with an estate stamp to the reverse. The wooden frame measures 57" x 51" x 1 1/2". The oil is accompanied by a small framed gouache study of the same composition, which is signed, titled, and dated to the reverse. That glazed frame measures 16 1/2" x 12" x 3/4".

Nick Vaccaro was a professor and chairman of the drawing and painting department at the University of Kansas. As an artist, Vaccaro was the recipient of purchase awards from the San Francisco Museum of Art (1958), the Dallas Museum of Fine Art (1961), and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art, and his work has additionally been exhibited in the Nelson Gallery of Art, Oklahoma Arts Center, Wichita Art Museum, and Dallas Museum for Contemporary Arts.

Condition

The paint layer is a little bit dusty, and there is a single pinhead-size flake in the top right corner. Some mildew visible to the reverse of the canvas. The gouache is in very good condition, with some wear to the frame.
