A Navajo rug, hand-spun wool yarn. The banded design has a cream ground, with three wide bands having diamonds of black, gray, and red, as well as rainbow bars (a portion of the rainbow gods used for protection and safe travel). An old retail tag denotes the date as 1920s, though it is our opinion that 1940s is the more likely date.
Measures 33" x 64".
Condition
There is a little bit of color run from some red dyed designs. There is an area of damage along the edge of the center diamond (as photographed), and a smaller hole and snag at one end.
