A vintage cast composition wall ornament, after the"Milton Shield," originally designed byLéonard Morel-Ladeuil(French, 1820-1888) in 1867. The shield illustrates John Milton's "Paradise Lost," with a central medallion depicting Adam and Eve with the archangel Raphael. Pate-sur-pate style low relief decoration over acomposition ofreconstituted stone and minerals. Circa third quarter 20th c.
