Marvin D. Cone (Iowa, 1891-1965) Mallards in Flight Oil on canvas board 22" x 28" Signed to the bottom right corner. Previously exhibited in the Gilded Pear Gallery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Provenance: A private Texas collection. The oil is said to have been created by the artist for Brown & Bigelow in Minneapolis, but was instead sold to a private party who worked for that company. The present owner, whose family also worked for Brown & Bigelow, acquired it from that collection upon its owner's passing.

Condition

The painting is in good, stable condition. No irregularities or issues noted under blacklight observation. Mild all-over soiling across the surface of the paint layer, which could be cleaned if so desired. There is a pinhole through the canvas board in the sky just visible inside the extreme top edge of the frame sight.
