A still life of a cow skull with geranium bulbs, likely created by Gold during her studies under Wilbur Niewald. Housed in a wooden frame measuring 21 1/4" x 25 1/4".

 

Marleen Gold received her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1979, influenced by her studies under Stanley Lewis, Wilbur Niewald, and Michael Walling. In 2022, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art celebrated her life and art with the retrospective "Deconstructing Marleen Gold," which related Gold's work to the likes of Lois Dodd, Wolf Kahn, and Fritz Scholder.

Condition

Very good condition, noting only very minor craquelure in the lower left.
