Brown cloth with gilt decoration. 328 illustrations throughout. An early issue of the first edition (the frontispiece is captioned "Titian's Moses").
Condition
Overall good condition. The surface of the cover shows rubbing and edges are bumped and worn. The binding has been reinforced and is presently very good. There is a stain to leaf of the author's portrait frontispiece.
