Four antique shellwork articles, English or American, circa late 19th century to first half 20th century.
The first, a compass-shaped frame holding a maritime print, the reverse of which reads: "Phoebe Paillet A merry Christmas from your school mate [indistinct signature, possibly Mark D...]". Measures 7 1/4" x 7 1/4".
The second, a small mirrored wall match box, faux bois painted paper front. Measures 5 3/4" x 5" x 3 1/4".
The third, a paper trinket box with a hinged shellwork lid, containing loose shells. Signed "Blanch Williams" to the underside. Measures 2" x 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".
The fourth, an empty shellwork picture frame. Measures 11 1/4" x 9 1/2", with an 8" x 6" sight.
Condition
Fair and good condition, with some losses and chips to the shells, and general aging/wear.
