Frederick Ballard Williams was a noted American painter whose romantic landscapes populated with finely dressed figures were informed by his travels to Europe and exposure to Rococo and Barbizon masterpieces. Today his idyllic paintings may be found in numerous permanent collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Provenance: Acquired from Sam Heller Fine Art (Chicago) in 2006, with accompanying Certificate of Authenticity. The reverse also bears an antique Findlay Art Galleries (Kansas City) tag.
Condition
Very good condition, noting only a minor amount of scattered cracking to the paint layer. No touch-ups or other repairs or damage noted under blacklight inspection.
