A 3" x 3" portrait study painted in the corner of a gessoed board, with a 1958 pencil attribution to Felicien Rops, and inscriptions (in French) indicating the subject is Gustave Pellet (French, 1859-1919). As a publisher, Pellet owned the rights to reproduce the work of Felicien Rops, and he worked with Albert Bertrand to produce and publish around 100 plates of Rops' work.

Condition

The work is in good condition, with errant marks and inscriptions, and minor fading and staining.
