An antique Continental pewter charger engraved "Mai Antoinette 1787." The Antoinette surname is borne on a banner held by two crosshatched cherubs. Measures 13 3/4" in diameter and 1 1/2" deep. Any direct connection to Marie Antoinette is unclear, but the engraved date would suggest the charger was at least synchronous with the ill-fated French queen.
Touch marks and hallmarks include an oval mark on the rim flanked by the letters "K" and "G," and a crowned Tudor rose mark with initials "JRVR" in the crown to the underside.
