An antique copper tea kettle suspended from a sculptural stand outfitted with a warming burner. The stand takes the form of a dragon gripping and biting a snake, the snake's head being the hook on which the kettle is suspended and its tail holding the burner. The tray below has an all-over hammered floral pattern, and the kettle is decorated with hammered peacock feathers. A fascinating and unique bestiary design, likely European in origin and circa 1900.
Measures 13" x 14" x 9 3/4".
Condition
Very sturdy. An applied red patina is very well-worn, particularly on the kettle. Some areas show pitting.
