A nicely painted early to mid 19th c. oil portrait of a nobleman of the Baroque period. Painted in the manner of Sir Anthony Van Dyke (Flemish, 1599-1641) by an unnamed European artist likely inspiredby Van Dyke's portraits of Marchese Ambrogio Spinola.

Measures approximately 30" x 25", presented in an oak frame that measures 34 3/4" x 29 3/4".

Provenance: Acquired at a Christie's London sale.

Alternate spelling: Sir Anthony Van Dyck

Condition

Good condition. Some touch-ups, including areas of over-painting in the background, but the countenance and most of the costume remains intact and original.
