A fine petite mahogany dressing table from the Flers commune in the Normandy region of northern France, circa 19th century. Flip top cabinet with an original silvered mirror affixed to the underside of the lid, and two shelves below. Gilt brass trim and burled marquetry inlays.
A paper tag is affixed to the underside: "Muebles & Sieges / J. Jean & F. Thomas à Flers (Orne) / 67 Rue d'Argentan 67 / Glanes & Tentures".
Measures 30" x 17" x 12 1/2".
Condition
Very good condition. The mirror glass is clouded with age, with a crack in one corner. The key and lock operate well. The veneers are in good condition, with only minor losses and cracking/bubbling.
