Wilfred Arnold
(Australian-American, 1936-2014)
Sofa and ottoman, 1960s

A sofa and long ottoman from a one-of-a-kind set of living room seating designed and crafted by artist, biochemist, writer, and polymath Wilfred Arnold. Designed with no commercial purpose, this unique set was used in its creator's own home for over 50 years.

Precisely constructed from pine boards, the design offers a wonderfully clean profile, both unassuming and wholly modern. The living room set's modular nature allows for numerous configurations.

In addition to creating objects from mobiles to prints to furniture, Dr. Arnold was the author of The Illness of Vincent van Gogh: Chemicals, Crises, and Creativity (1994).

Provenance: The estate of the artist.

Condition

Good condition, with wears consistent with age and use. Structurally sound. The cushions are dirty.
