Tom Richard Cavanaugh (American, 1923-2019) Summons at Truro, circa 1960s Oil on Masonite 36" x 48" An ethereal scene depicting a young figure and dog racing across the dunes of Truro, near the tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Signed "TC" in the lower left. Presented in a frame that measures 37" x 49". Tom Cavanaugh was a decorated painter whose works are held in collections including the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Joslyn Art Museum, and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Cavanaugh taught at Louisiana State University, the Kansas City Art Institute, and Washington University in St. Louis, and was the owner/director of the Bay Street Studio in Boothbay Harbor, Maine for over 60 years. Provenance: From the corporate art collection of a Kansas City based Fortune 500 company, previously acquired directly from the artist.

Condition

Very good condition, noting a little bit of craquelure near the driftwood to the left of the image, and in the sea and sky areas. No in-painting or over-painting noted under blacklight observation.
