Back of stretcher reads "Joseph White" in black script - potentially the artist. 

There's also pencil writing on the back of the stretcher that we believe reads "Smith of Chicheley view of a river", likely making this an English painting originating from the Buckinghamshire area. 

Painting without frame measures: 45" wide x 30" tall

Painting shows craquelure and stress lines where the stretcher is behind the canvas. There are also several small surface scratches on the lower left and right edges of the painting. Frame shows minor wear. 

Bidding Information: 

Timed Auction with Soft Close: This is a timed auction. Lots will begin closing at 7:00pm and will close 30 seconds apart. If a new bid comes in during the last 30 seconds before a lot closes, an additional 1 minute will be added.

Buyers Premium: There is a 15% buyer's premium on all items (so if you’re the winning bidder at $100, the total will be $115).

Payment: If you are a winning bidder, you will receive an invoice the morning after the end of the auction and your credit card on file will be auto-charged (there is no additional fee for credit card payments). We do not accept cash or checks for payment.

Item Pick Up:  Item pickup is Thursday, April 25th in Leawood between the hours of 4:00pm and 7:00pm. Winning bidders will receive the full address on their invoice. Items not picked up by 7pm on April 25th will be considered abandoned and will be donated without a refund. Brown Button/Circle does not provide any shipping or delivery services for online estate auctions.
