A powder horn from the American Revolutionary War, engraved "JOHN MORE his hoRN / SARATOGA SEPTR. 10 1775." To the reverse is a scrimshaw illustration of a rattlesnake, a lion wearing the Georgian crown, and a bird of prey. Wooden end plug and stopper, and leather strap.
Measures 13 1/2" x 5" x 3 1/2".
From the collection of a notable Kansas City doctor, benefactor, and genealogist.
The horn has several small cavities along the side of the illustrations. General aging. The leather strap is presumably a replacement.
