An antique Navajo blanket, hand-spun wool, circa 1910s. The design incorporates a central belted diamond with red accents over a gray field, with a geometric border of light brown, white, and black/ dark brown. Measures 35 1/2" x 69".
Provenance: From a private collection, one of three Navajo blankets purchased by the present owner's parents on their 1940 honeymoon.
Condition
Overall good condition. One end cord has worn especially at the corners, so those corners are a bit loose, and there is an area of selvedge near the center of the blanket edge that has worn as well. There is just a little bit of color run to the red dye.
