A Leslie Supertyfon five-bell horn, commonly used in railroad locomotives, salvaged from a towboat. Cast aluminum with red and gray paint. The horn is accompanied by a bronze relief plaque that reads: "Twin Screw Diesel Towboat Mercury / Dravo Corporation / Pittsburgh, PA / 1983 / Designer Builder." The lot also includes a Graham-White (Salem, VA) horn valve.
The horn measures 12" x 28" x 26" overall, with bells ranging from lengths approximately 9 1/2" to 24" (5 1/2" to 10 1/2" wide). The plaque measures 12" x 17 3/4", and the Graham-White valve measures about 6" x 9".
Condition
Good apparent condition, though the horn is not tested. A little bit of scattered scuffing, and some pitting to the second smallest bell.
