Signed and dated to the reverse. As a painter and educator, Bakke's passion for Abstract Expressionism was a powerful influence on his students, in particular Chuck Close; Bakke's notable early impact was detailed in the latter's 2010 biography

Condition
There is some dry cracking across the paint layer. There is a mild dimple to the canvas in the lower left. Two small areas of flaking paint near the bottom edge. Some grime accumulated on the surface. The wooden frame's paint is chipped.
