Jim Leedy
(Missouri, 1930-2021)
Sky Art over Kansas City, 1979
Serigraph on paper
31" x 22" (image)
In 1979, multidisciplinary artist and Jim Leedy constructed a sculpture of nylon cloth and rope "the size of a football field" and suspended it 40 stories high from the tops of skyscrapers in downtown Kansas City. This serigraph, executed by the artist in an edition of 50, commemorates the Sky Art installation, a memorable example of public art from one of the city's most influential art figureheads.
Pencil-signed, dated, titled, and numbered (#2/ 50) to the bottom margin. Housed in a glazed frame measuring 40 1/4" x 26 1/4".
A small flake of foam is trapped in the frame. Mild scuffing to the sheet in the top half of the image, and a scattered scuffs to the Plexiglass.
