Untitled, 1970
Rope and straw
100" x 37" x 9"

A large wall sculpture composed of twine wound around wooden poles, interlaced with rope in linear geometry, and terminating at the bottom in a sunburst of straw. The construction elevates traditionally functional and mundane materials into a high-brow artistic arrangement. Janet Kuemmerlein has been hailed as a pioneer in the world of contemporary fiber art, recognized nationally and internationally for her large-scale fiber murals, public works, and private commissions.

Provenance: From the corporate art collection of a Kansas City based Fortune 500 company, previously acquired from the Little Gallery.

Condition

Good condition. Some minor snags and loose strands, largely inherent to the materials.
