An Italian gilt bronze inkwell with nine pietra dura butterflies of inlaid stone, circa second half 19th century. Hinged top with central porcelain inkpot insert, surrounded by a lobed tray with ruffled and beaded edge.
Measures 3 1/2" x 9".
Provenance: The estate of a Mission Hills collector. 100% of the proceeds from this lot will be donated to charity.
Very good condition, with no losses to the pietra dura inlays, no chips to the porcelain inkpot, and only minor wears to the gilt bronze.
