An extensively carved Continental coquilla nut snuff box, circa late 18th c. to early 19th c. The hinged lid is carved with aportrayal of Hercules and Omphale with Cupid, the sides are carved with classical dolphins, and the back is carved with a grotesque with glass eyes and bone teeth.
Measures 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 1 3/4".
Good to very good condition, noting only a couple of inconsequential hairlines. The hinged lid still snaps tightly in place.
