A 1976 test pressing of the Eagles' monumental rock album Hotel California, signed in blue marker by all five principal band members: Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Randy Meisner, Glenn Frey, and Don Felder. The jacket is inscribed: "Jimmy - Thanks," and "7E-1084 A/B" (the record's US release code).A photocopied spec sheet gives the date of the Asylum Records label copy as 11/12/76. The matrix of the vinyl is inscribed "IS IT 6 O'CLOCK YET" on side one, and "V.O.L. IS FIVE-PIECE LIVE" on side two.

It is unclear who the "Jimmy" of the inscription refers to: Musician Jimmy Buffett opened shows for the Eagles beginning in 1975, and he quickly grew to be close friends with Frey and Henley, later giving their Rock and Rock Hall of Fame induction speech.Industry veteran Jim Ed Norman arranged and conducted for the record, before his long tenure as the president of Warner Bros. Unfortunately, these possible addressees of the inscriptionare speculative only.

Hotel Californiastill stands as one of the high watermarks in the history of the rock genre: Not only is the record consistently ranked on rock critics' all-time top 100 lists, it is also presently the third highest-selling record of all time.

Condition

The vinyl is in beautiful condition, with hardly any sign of use. The record jacket shows a little soiling/ staining from age, the top edge has split, and the bottom edge has partially split. The paper sleeve is present, lined in plastic that has cracked. Everything is protected with a clear plastic overcoat.
