A Bamileke elephant mask ( mbap mteng
), black cloth over burlap, decorated with thousands of polychrome beads in geometric patterns. Cameroon, circa mid-20th c.
The mask measures 45" high by approximately 16" wide, and it is displayed atop a custom stand that measures 65" high and 9" x 9" at the base.
Good condition, noting a few very small holes to the cloth at the back of the head. The beadwork appears to be completely intact across the mask.
