An antique belt chatelaine with five chains and a variety of attachments. It has a largebelt clip that is silver plated with afloral motif. Chain 1:There is a long, curved, silver plated flask with engravings and a safety chain top. It is unmarked. Chain 2:There isa round cylinder sterling needle case with a hinged top, engraved floral pattern, and needleholes inside. The hinged lid screws off.It is marked on the bottom with British assay marks of a lion, anchor, letter B, sterling, 300, and possibly a Fleur de Lis stamp. The needle case rim is stamped wih a right-facing lion, an anchor, the letter B, sterling, and 300. Chain 3:Hastwo chains connected with clips. Slid on the clips aretwo charms. One charm is a sterling bear that is unmarked, the second is a cow bell marked "Grue Aus Oberammergaus1890". The bottom ofthe second chain has a small metal tool stamped with "16" and a sterling pill box with 14kgold applique of afloral motif and a 14kgold fish. A young man's photo is inside. It is engraved on the bottom with initials and a date of "June 8 '87". The pill box is marked with the winged "S" stamp for Shiebler, and is also marked"Sterling, 1240". Chain 4:Has a ring with 7 charms; a puffy sterling heart photo locket marked inside "NF", a sterling lady in a papasan chair, a six spoke gold-filled wheel, a silvertwo man gondola boat, a working compass with ahand painted dial,another compass with the dial and glass missing, a "Wiesbadden" engraved silver cup. Other than the heart, all the charms are unmarked. Chain 5:Has a square hammered sterling pin cushion with aRoman/Greek bust portrait on each side and is marked; "Sterling A", with thewinged-S stamp for George W. Shiebler& Co. Also on chain 5 is a sterling owl mechanical pencil with red eyes and gold filled top and bottom. It is unmarked. The belt clip measures 3 1/2 incheswide and 2 inchestall. The overall length is 10 incheslong which includes the longest chain portion. The flask measures 3 3/8 inchestall, 1 7/8 incheswide at the widest point,and 8 mm thick. The needle case measures 2 inchestall and 8 mm in diameter. The pin cushion measures 1 1/2 inchesby 1 1/2inches and is9.5 mm thick. The mechanical pencil measures2 inchestall and is 11.25 mm thick.

Condition

Slight bending to the pin, otherwise good condition with scuffing consistent with age.

Pick Up, Packing, & Shipping: Winning bidders may pick up their lots, once paid in full, at Circle’s auction office during regular business hours. If packing and shipping is required, we can provide you with a list of recommended shippers by request. You will be responsible to contact, arrange shipment, and pay 3rd party shippers. Circle will not be responsible for loss or damage of purchased lots handled or shipped, nor for acts and omissions, by 3rd party shippers, whether recommended by us or not. Circle will not release the lot for shipment until payment has been made in full and a buyer’s written shipping authorization form has been received. Winning bids may not be retracted, canceled or rescinded due to issues with shipping including, but not limited to, costs or prohibitions. It is the responsibility of the bidder to account for shipping prior to bidding. Failure to Pick Up & Storage: Winning bidders must pick up or have lots shipped within 15 calendar days of the close of the auction. On the 16th day from the close of the auction Circle has the right to charge the winning bidder a storage fee of $5 per lot per day. Lots that have been paid for, but remain on our premises sixty (60) days from the close of the auction may be sold by Circle, with no notice to the buyer. Any funds in excess of the purchase price, commissions, applicable costs, and storage fees will be remitted to the original winning bidder. At the point where storage fees associated with an unshipped item exceed the hammer price of the item the winning bidder will be considered in default of our terms and conditions and forfeits ownership to Circle Auction or its affiliated companies. In the case where the item is forfeited the winning bidder will not be compensated in any way. Lots left with Circle after the 16th day from the close of the auction are stored at the buyer’s risk.
