A finely carved Grand Tour alabaster of one of Neoclassical master Antonio Canova's most enduring sculptures. The primary Canova model, completed in 1814, is held in the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica in Rome.
There is a chip and repaired hairlines to the stump and ground. Repairs to the figure's fingers, including a hairline to the ring finger and modeled replacement pinky and index fingers.
