A large Italian cassone, extensively decorated with fluted body, gadrooned belt, paw feet, and armorial crest. The lid is decorated with acanthus leaf, egg and dart molding, and a central shield.
Measures 27 1/2" x 68" x 23".
There are scattered cracks to the gilt gesso decoration, and old wood worm holes. Mild warping to the lid, but the lid opens, closes, and sits correctly without any issues. A key is present, but the lock mechanism does not work.
